All of us at Theatre Orangeville hope that you and your family remain happy, healthy, safe and sound, and that you continue to find joy all around you.
I wanted to share with you firsthand the extremely disappointing, yet not completely unexpected news that I have decided that we cannot proceed with our production of The New Canadian Curling Club this coming August after all.
While disappointing news indeed for all of us the safety and health of you, our dear patrons, as well as that of our dedicated staff, passionately committed artists, Youth Academy programs participants and brilliant creative teams will always be our first priority.
Given the uncertainty around when we will be allowed back into your theatre, coupled with the fact that we find ourselves still mired in anxious times, I’m sure you will agree with me that it would be neither safe nor prudent for us to proceed with the production nor indeed any of our other Theatre Orangeville performances scheduled for this coming summer.
As you already know, we have postponed our presentation of Across The Pond – The British Invasion until September, subject of course to health and safety regulations.
I am sad to say that we will also be suspending the activities of our month-long Musical Theatre and Drama Young Companies this summer as well as NORTH(519), our festival that celebrates the Best of the Toronto Fringe, but is my intention that these specific programs will be back next summer bigger and better than ever.
It is my hope that our Academy classes and camps may be allowed to resume during the summer months, should physical distancing measures be relaxed by then.
Rest assured that when the all-clear is finally sounded, Theatre Orangeville, with the love and support of our caring community, will be there for you; providing world-class entertainment, incredible creative opportunities for young people and exciting shows that celebrate ability, along with an incredible Main-stage playbill that will thrill and delight you!
Thank you for your support and understanding in these anxious times.
Please stay healthy, continue to practice physical distancing … and keep on washing those hands!
Remember … the show WILL go on in YOUR theatre - eventually!
