2012 Spring Youth Programs

Tales With A Twist II

Ages: 7 - 10 years

What happens when you combine a classic story, an "on location" scriptwriter, enthusiastic group leaders and eager participants? Theatre that rocks!

In Tales with a Twist II, we create another original play in which every participant has a meaningful speaking role.

Actors use costume pieces and props to help develop characters. We play theatre games, learn basic stagecraft and explore how our characters think, walk and talk.

While developing performanc skills, the session promotes the value of teamwork, creative thinking and communication.

Those who attended Tales with a Twist will be gently challenged to a new level of performance.

To conclude this exciting session, we will present a world premiere of our new play for family on the Theatre Orangeville Stage in the Spring Showcase on Tuesday, June 5.

No theatre experience required. A sense of fun is a must!

Director: Jane Ohland Cameron

Dates: Tuesdays (April 10 to May 29, 2012)

Time 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location: Theatre Orangeville Rehearsal Hall, Dufferin Road 3

Half Scripts - The Other Half!

Ages: 11 - 14 years

Half Scripts - The Other Half is a zany mix of improvisation, script creation and performance where you, the actors, complete the scriptwriter's lines.

Each week, actors will be challenged with a new and different genre of half-baked script and it's up to you to add your own personal style and sense of humour. Every session will include warm-up excercises, improvisation, theatre games and performances of your own creations.

This upbeat and fast-paced session will help develop skills that are invaluable to the performer; acting, thinking on your feet, creating character and dialogue, and learning how to stage scenes. The classes promote teamwork, communication and creative thinking -- terrific survivial skills for any setting.

After the final week, we'll pull together our favourite scripts and perform them for family and friends on the Theatre Orangeville Stage. Those who attended Half Scripts will enjoy a greater emphasis on acting skills, culminating in a presentation on the Theatre Orangeville Stage in the Spring Showcase on June 5.
