Theatre Orangeville has a strong commitment to the youth of our community. Our Youth Programs continue the Theatre Orangeville tradition of providing creative and exciting learning opportunities for local young people who have the desire to experience all the wonders that the arts can offer.
This year (09/10) T.O.Y.S. rehearsals will involve preparation for the choir's appearance in Theatre Orangeville's professional production of A Christmas Story in December, the Torch Relay ceremony on December 28th and their own costumed, choreographed shows at the end of May 2010,
Scott White, composer of The Giant's Garden, has written an original song for the choir to perform at the Olympic Torch Relay. The choir is honoured to present this music as a tribute to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

The Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (T.O.Y.S.) are performing choirs for children 8 years and older with unchanged voices who love to sing. The program offers training in the use of correct choral techniques, sight singing, singing in harmony, choreographed, costumed stage performance opportunities, formal stage performances and long-lasting friendships.
The choirs rehearse at Covenant Alliance Church, 3 Zina Street in Orangeville
4:15 to 6:00 pm on Tuesdays before December, and Tuesdays and Fridays from February to May
Cost: $350 + HST for one child
$300 + HST for an additional child in the same family

Q. At what age may my child join T.O.Y.S.?
A. Children must be at least 8 years old by September of the year they join. 16 is the upper age limit.Q. When are rehearsals?
A. T.O.Y.S. members rehearse every Tuesday from 4:15 pm until 6:00 pm during September, October and November. There will be some extra rehearsals scheduled in late November with David Nairn in preparation for the Christmas production at the Opera House.
Q. Do rehearsals continue in December?
A. There will not be rehearsals in December as all T.O.Y.S. members will be involved in Theatre Orangeville's Christmas production.
Q. Is it true that T.O.Y.S. rehearse twice a week beginning in January?
A. No. This year there will be no rehearsals in January. Rehearsals will resume in February and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:15 pm until 6:00 pm as we prepare for our spring show. Extra choreography rehearsals may be called. Every effort is made to provide information about extra rehearsals well in advance.
Q. Do I have to go to every rehearsal?
A. T.O.Y.S. members are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals. In cases of illness or emergency, a phone call of explanation to one of the Directors is required. Unexplained absences may jeopardize membership in the choir.
Q. When is the spring show?
A. Our spring show will be held at the Opera House on the last week-end in May. Extra Rehearsals will be called during the week prior to the show as we move our production on to the stage at the Opera House.
