The Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (T.O.Y.S)
The Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (T.O.Y.S) continue to be an integral part of Theatre Orangeville’s mandate to offer quality programs for young people in our community.
The T.O.Y.S. are open to 8-16 year olds who love to sing and perform. The programming will be divided into two semesters; Fall and Winter/Spring and each semester will culminate in a performance which showcases the talents of the Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers.
T.O.Y.S. members will develop a general appreciation of vocal music and receive specific training in choral skills. The concepts of team work and performance will extend the self-confidence of each member.
Choirs
Singers in T.O.Y.S. will be placed in either the PRELUDE or CHAMBER choir. Placement will be at the sole discretion of the Directors after an assessment of vocal skills, prior training and performance experience. The age of the singer is not a prerequisite for either choir.
PRELUDE CHOIR
Entry into T.O.Y.S. will generally be at the Prelude level where the focus will be on unison and two-part harmony. Tonal quality and accurate pitch will be strongly emphasized. Performance skills and backstage protocol will be introduced. Choir members will be expected to perform with the Prelude choir for at least two years before being eligible for the Chamber Choir.
CHAMBER CHOIR
Entry into the Chamber choir will be by invitation. Tonal quality, accurate pitch and three-part harmony will be the focus of instruction. Choir members will be expected to perform in ensembles in a variety of performance settings. Some members of the Chamber Choir will be asked to mentor the singers in the Prelude Choir.

SPIRIT DAY—September 12th from 1:00—5:00 pm @ New Theatre Orangeville Rehearsal Hall—Dufferin Road 3 at Highway 9. All T.O.Y.S. members are expected to attend this event.

FALL SEMESTER: September 14th—December 16th — In theatre on the 21st for Tech. and performances on Dec. 22nd and 23rd
WINTER/SPRING SEMESTER: February 15th—May 19th—In theatre week of May 23rd.
Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers (T.O.Y.S.) Director Bios
ANNE REID
Anne is a retired elementary school teacher whose love of music and theatre led to the production of many school performances. Singing with the Belfountain Singers provided much joy and experience in choral work. Anne has been a Director of Musical Theatre for Young People at Theatre Orangeville for the last five years and is thrilled with the new challenge of becoming a T.O.Y.S. Director.
PAMELA SCOTT
Pamela is a graduate of the Music Theatre Performance Program at Sheridan College. Credits include: Anne of Green Gables (Drayton Entertainment), Emily (Talk is Free Theatre), A Christmas Carol (Theatre Orangeville), My Fair Lady (Drayton Entertainment) and Tick Tick Boom (The Rose Theatre) to name a few. Pamela teaches private singing and acting lessons with her company PS Studio and is excited to be joining the T.O.Y.S. as a Director.
