Programs Coordinator Opportunity

Theatre Orangeville is currently seeking an energetic and passionate individual to fill the role of Programs Coordinator of our thriving professional theatre company. The Programs Coordinator is charged with the coordination, oversight, promotion and sales of all Academy programming*, including all youth and adult programs for all abilities, Education on Stage programming and the annual Theatre for Young Audiences touring production.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Planning and development of programs and programming schedules 
  • Promotion and sales for all programs and school bookings 
  • Development of advertising/promotional pieces in collaboration with our designer and Marketing Manager
  • Communication with parents and participants, and liaising between families and directors
  • Attending production meetings and recording minutes for CPOS, TOYS and Young Companies (or any other program with a production element)
  • Development of new programming and workshops (in collaboration with the AD)
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with other community organizations, particularly the social services and educational organizations 
  • Coordination and emceeing of Fall and Spring Showcases
  • Monitoring and reconciliation of Academy and Education expenses (in collaboration with the Financial Coordinator and GM)
  • Chairing the Youth Advisory Committee and hosting meetings
  • Collaboration with Development Manager to assist with statistical information and language for grant/donor applications
  • Creation of monthly e-mail marketing piece to be distributed to the Academy mailing list

*Current programming includes: 

  • Fall and Spring programming: The Junior Stage, The Intermediate Stage, The Next Stage, T.O.E.P. (Theatre Orangeville Exceptional Players)
  • Two C.P.O.S. (Creative Partners on Stage) programs and productions annually
  • Two four-week Young Companies (Musical in July and Drama in August)
  • Summer week-long programming (The Starter Stage and The Junior Stage - Summer Edition)
  • Occasional Stagecraft or Adult Acting Workshops
  • TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) touring production

Programming currently on hiatus due to pandemic

  • T.O.Y.S. (Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers) which runs September to May and includes two productions
  • March Break Camp
  • Two annual Primary presentations for school students in the Theatre (one in each, November and February)
  • Education on Stage component of our Christmas Production (which generally includes 10 school matinees)
  • Education on Stage component of one other of our MainStage productions that hosts a high-school matinee

 The ideal candidate possesses:

  • High degree of motivation and professionalism
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and work productively with artists, staff, and community members
  • Proven ability to make administrative and procedural decisions
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency in the effective use of social media
  • Well-developed time-management, organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Experience working with neuro-diverse and differently-abled individuals would be an asset 
  • Knowledge of the Headwaters and area arts community

Additional info:

  • This position is a part-time position (24 hours/week), located in Orangeville, Ontario
  • Initial contract is for six-months
  • Potential to increase to full-time (40 hours/week with Health & Dental package) after six months. This is reliant on pandemic restrictions at that time.
  • Salary and vacation schedule to be negotiated 
  • Employment Start Date: as soon as possible

The Programs Coordinator reports directly to the Artistic Director and General Manager.
