|Matilda the Musical||A Midsummer Night's Dream|
Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other's lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

We have a dream. A dream of bonfires and fairy lights. A dream of magic and wonder. A dream of a community celebrating each other. A dream of people coming from all over to take part in the most basic of human experiences – the sharing of our stories.
With this production we will continue to break down the barriers and take another step towards equality in the performance arts, bringing together professional and non-professional actors, both those young and old, celebrating all levels of ability; both physical and developmental, and in experience level. Together, with other community organizations such as Credit Valley Conservation Authority and the Sweet Adelines’ Orangeville Chorus, we will transform the beautiful waterfront amphitheatre at Island Lake Conservation area to the fantastical world of Shakespeare and set the stage for this once-in-a-lifetime experience of the heart that brings together talent from across our community in an epic collaboration of inclusion and creativity. *See note below image regarding Young Company involvement!
*For A Midsummer Night's Dream, Young Company members will participate in a tuition based program as they have in previous years. The same focus and dedication will be given to training these young actors in a professional setting to become more skilled and versatile performers. This year the Drama Young Company will be joining forces with our professional stage and will perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream alongside both professional and community based actors, in the grandest production Theatre Orangeville has ever embarked on. The sheer scale will far exceed any other show our youth have ever had the chance to work on, and this collaborative project will be the culmination of our 25th Season. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
