Booked & Busy: Audition Prep for Young People

During our Booked and Busy: Audition Prep for Young People workshop participants will receive guided coaching on preparing polished audition material. Participanats will gain skills on selecting, shaping, and performing a song and/or monologue for their next audition with an emphasis on storytelling, confidence, and authentic choices. Whether you’re new to auditions or refining your skills, this workshop will help you walk into the room prepared, focused, and ready to be seen. Perfect for new and returning members of our summer Young Company programs to work on material for 2026 Young Company auditions.

Meet the Instructor:

Ryan Kelly

Ryan Kelly has been a professional singer, dancer and actor for over 30 years. He has performed all over the world in a wide variety of mediums. Some of Ryan’s favourite credits include: “Mamma Mia” (Mirvish) “The Normal Heart” (Studio 180/Dora Nom) “The House of Martin Guerre” (CanStage) “Avenue Q” (Citadel/Sterling Award) “Rocky Horror Show (Sudbury Theatre Centre) “Elf” (The Grand Theatre London) “Falsettos” (Winnipeg Jewish Theatre) “Living withHenry” (Off Broadway). Ryan has also performed in Daniel MacIvor’s one person show “Here Lies Henry”. He has had regular roles in television on “Queer As Folk” and “Bitten”, and guested on many others including “Law and Order; Criminal Intent”, “Cross”, “Murdoch Mysteries”, “Warehouse 13”, “Saving Hope” and “Reign”. Ryan was featured in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” as well as having feature roles in the films “Serialized” and “Young Werther”. He has been nominated for a Genie Award, Canadian Comedy Award and nominated for 2 Dora Awards for Acting, taking home one for “Will the Real JT LeRoy Please Stand Up?”. He’s seen over 30 countries while performing on Cruise Ships and has been in over 30 television commercials. Ryan has also proudly worked in education and leadership roles. He has been Drama Teacher at The Centre for Art and Soul, The Stage Door Academy, and Children’s Garden Nursery School. He has directed “The Secret Garden” and “Matilda” for Mainstage Theatre Company. Ryan is a frequent guest artist at Earl Haig, Cardinal Carter and Wexford Collegiate, and has been an Artist Educator for Studio 180’s Theatre Workshops. He has been Director/Choreographer for the Music Theatre Ensemble Programme at Young People’s Theatre. He has been a resident artist for Canadore College and for the last 8 years Ryan has been Professor of Acting for the George Brown Dance Programme through Ballet Jorgen.
