On behalf of Town of Orangeville Council, Staff and residents, I am honoured to have the opportunity to celebrate the 30thAnniversary of Theatre Orangeville and the remarkable 25-year journey of David Nairn as its artistic director. This milestone not only marks the enduring success of the theatre, but also exemplifies the profound impact that Theatre Orangeville and the arts have had on our vibrant community.

Theatre Orangeville’s three-decade journey has been nothing short of inspiring. From its humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of our cultural landscape, it has continuously provided Orangeville residents and visitors with captivating performances that touch hearts, provoke thought, and foster a sense of unity. Orangeville has seen talented actors and playwrights from across the nation and the dedication to excellence from the staff and crew have transformed Theatre Orangeville into a creative hub designed to foster artistic expression. Under David’s guidance, the theatre has dared to explore a diverse range of productions that speak to the essence of the human experience and promote meaningful conversations within our community.

Theatre Orangeville’s impact extends far beyond the stage curtains; it has become a place where people gather to celebrate their shared humanity, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and experience the power of storytelling. A place for youth to be empowered to explore their artistic talents and find their voice, their confidence, and their passion. Re: Theatre Orangeville’s 30th Anniversary Season

As the Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, I’m honoured to be recognizing Theatre Orangeville on its 30th anniversary season. This is a significant milestone and one that our community celebrates with tremendous pride.

Theatre Orangeville has successfully delivered high-quality, professional theatre, drawing visitors from near and far for three decades. It started with a dream by founder, Jim Betts, to establish a professional summer theatre, quickly growing to a regional theatre by 1999 when the programming season expanded from September to May. It was also at this time Theatre Orangeville welcomed David Nairn as the new Artistic Director. For the last 25 years, David Nairn has enthusiastically dedicated himself to expanding the mission of the theatre. Today, in addition to consistently showcasing outstanding Canadian works, Theatre Orangeville offers a broad range of programs and workshops to provide youth with unique, creative opportunities to develop their skills through the performing arts. Theatre Orangeville has also been a longstanding leader in supporting diversity and acceptance, as well as celebrating all abilities.

We’re extremely grateful for the countless contributions Theatre Orangeville has made to strengthen our community by telling our stories on stage and through creative partnerships. Community has always been and will always be at the heart of everything this theatre company undertakes. On behalf of the residents of Dufferin-Caledon, I would like to thank Theatre Orangeville and its entire team for 30 immensely successful seasons and enriching our community every step of the way. The future is bright and we can’t wait to see what’s next for our local theatre company!
