Theatre Orangeville is a non-profit professional theatre company that plays a vital role in developing community social and economic well-being as the region’s largest professional arts organization.

For almost 30 years, Theatre Orangeville has been delivering  programs that inspire, entertain, enrich, and provide mentoring and development opportunities to adults and young people, of all abilities. We are committed to enriching the community with a high quality, professional theatre experience, that showcases the development of new Canadian works; to providing youth with unique opportunities to transform their lives through performing arts; to providing vibrant, engaging and creative opportunities that grows the cultural experience through community partnerships; and to nurturing diversity, promoting acceptance and celebrating all abilities.

Theatre Orangeville has a successful relationship with the Town of Orangeville and has held a continuous series of long-term leases with the town for the operation and management of the Opera House. The management agreement with the Town of Orangeville was once again renewed in December 2022 for a term of 5 years effective January 1, 2023.

Throughout the year, Theatre Orangeville develops, produces and presents a variety of productions including the installation of full sets, execution of sound and lighting, cast and crew using the stage and surrounding space.

Theatre Orangeville also provides box office and front of house support for other organizations or groups that rent the Opera House for their own use.

Eliminating accessibility barriers to guarantee equal access for all and ensuring the safety of patrons, artists and staff is priority one.

Our organization, with a Capital grant awarded by Ontario Trillium Foundation, will address a community need by upgrading accessibility capabilities and compliance to health and safety standards, increasing programming access and ensuring a safe stage environment.

Upgrading our accessibility infrastructure and stage environment will result in us being better able to serve the needs of patrons, artists and skilled trades people who may require accessibility support.

After many years of use, the stage floor has developed many areas of unevenness, creating tripping hazards for artists and crew members and putting them at risk of injury. Additionally the years of wear and tear on the surface, as well as multiple layers of paint have left the surface in rough condition, both aesthetically and structurally.

Resurfacing the stage floor will eliminate the identified issues and enable artists to perform safely and ensure a safe and hazard free environment for staff and users.

As Theatre Orangeville runs year round scheduling in the Opera House, the timeline of this capital project can fit in EITHER of the following timelines;

July 1, 2023 - July 16, 2023 OR July 31, 2023 - August 18, 2023
