AUTHORS ON STAGE MARY LAWSON

One of Canada’s most beloved literary voices returns home for a very special Authors on Stage event.

Born and raised in a small Ontario farming community and now living in England, acclaimed novelist Mary Lawson has captivated readers around the world with beautifully drawn characters, intimate family stories and an unmistakable sense of place.

Her writing has often drawn comparisons to authors such as Ann Patchett and Elizabeth Strout - stories in which the characters feel less like strangers on a page and more like people we have known all our lives.

Lawson comes to Orangeville with her newest novel, Solace in Winter, returning readers to the northern Canadian landscape she renders so vividly. Set against the beauty and isolation of winter and rooted in the close-knit community of Solace, the novel is emotional, thought-provoking and deeply comforting.

Lawson is the internationally bestselling author of Crow Lake, The Other Side of the Bridge, Road Ends and A Town Called Solace. Her celebrated debut, Crow Lake, became a New York Times bestseller, and her work has received recognition from some of the world’s most prestigious literary awards.

Mary Lawson will be interviewed by former CBC journalist Bernadette Hardaker.
