North(519) Best of Fringe - RETURNS!

EVENING - Ticketed Event

WHAT IS IT?

Our Friday night opening event at Summer Arts Fest will feature not one, but TWO shows from The Toronto Fringe Festival. Held inside the intimate barn at Mount Alverno, you're welcomed with LIVE patio music, drinks and ambiance, before taking in your first show of the evening. We encourage you to take advantage of our two-show ticket deal and see BOTH Fringe shows for one low price.

In between the shows, we'll once again greet you on the romantically lit patio for music and refreshments.

JUST ANNOUNCED - The two shows joining us from the Toronto Fringe Festival are; Stiff & Sons and bol, brown boy, bol (speak, brown boy, speak)!

7:00pm - Stiff & Sons

Meet the Stiffs. Your average family running a funeral home teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. In a bid to keep their business afloat, they start orchestrating "accidental departures" for unsuspecting individuals. As their scheme brings unexpected success, the fate of the Stiff family hangs precariously in the balance as greed, love triangles, dreams of Hollywood and possessed puppets weave together in this darkly comedic tale.

After a successful run at the 2023 Simcoe County Theatre Festival, Stiff & Sons made its Toronto debut at the 2024 Toronto Fringe Festival with a Dora Award Winning cast and director, and is now joining us!

8:30pm - bol, brown boy, bol (speak, brown boy, speak)

In this cheeky, heartfelt solo show, a lost millennial GTA brown boy speaks up about the impact of Canadian racism on his identity by weaving storytelling with the rhythms of tabla - a Northern Indian percussion instrument.

Come for the unique blend of storytelling and classical tabla performance. Stay for the musical throwbacks, the playful humour, and a post-show community dialogue with us. Leave feeling seen.

This is a debut theatre production from Creator/Director Nawaaz Makhani, Director/Producer Tiffany Wu.

Tickets on sale NOW!! Call our Box Office to ask about our 2 for $30 deal and see BOTH awesome Fringe shows!!

What is Theatre for Young Audiences?

We believe theatre is a powerful tool. It dramatizes and contextualizes the world. It invites us to walk in other’s shoes; see the world through their eyes.

All of our Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) shows are grounded in the Ontario curriculum; they teach, through theatre.

Bonus: we hire educators to create study packages, so your classroom can get the most out of the experience.
